In this course\, led by New York Times bes
tselling author\, Daniel José\; Older\, we'll explore the basic elem
ents of story: character\, context\, craft\, and conflict. We'll get into
the nitty-gritty of each\, their functionality\, different approaches to s
olving narrative problems\, and how they all weave together to tell a grea
t story that readers can't put down. Finally\, we'll move beyond the funda
mentals and learn the strategies for taking our narratives to the next lev
el\, touching on deeper concepts of craft and thematic structure.

Daniel José\; Older\, a lead story architect for "Star
Wars: The High Republic"\, is the New York Times best-selling author of th
e upcoming Young Adult fantasy novel "Ballad &\; Dagger" (book 1 of the
Outlaw Saints series)\, the sci-fi adventure "Flood City"\, the monthly c
omic series "The High Republic Adventures". His other books include the hi
storical fantasy series Dactyl Hill Squad\, "The Book of Lost Saints"\, th
e Bone Street Rumba urban fantasy series\, "Star Wars: Last Shot"\, and th
