Some Things Never Leave You \;is Zeina Azzam&rsquo\;s first full-length poetry collection. It is intended for a general audience. She writes about the refugee and immigrant experiences\, cultural identity and memory\, and the depth and meaning of human connect ions. Azzam&rsquo\;s approach is ultimately redemptive and joyful\; she ce lebrates resilience\, how loving relationships nourish us\, and how nature can offer us spiritual solace.
\nThis author talk will center aroun d Azzam's newly published collection of poems. She will read her work and contextualize each poem within her life experiences\, especially as a chil d of refugees and an immigrant to the United States herself. The reading w ill introduce Alexandria&rsquo\;s Poet Laureate and her recently published work to new audiences\, and she will reserve time at the end for question s. Copies of the book will be available for sale\, if attendees are intere sted in purchasing them.
