A way to diminish the effects of &ldquo\;s ummer slide&rdquo\; (a decline in reading and other academic skills that c an occur over the summer months when school isn't in session.) \;
\ nChildren entering grades 1 through 4 can practice the ir reading and/or math skills with a helpful teen volunteer for 30 minutes once per week for the month of July or August. You may register your chil d for 30 minutes of reading\, 30 minutes of math\, OR 15 minutes of both. Reading &\; Math Buddies is for PRACTICE only. Teen Bu ddies are neither teachers nor tutors\; they are helping to reinfo rce your child&rsquo\;s existing skills.
\nSpaces a re limited ~ please select only one time slot at only one branch.
\nYour registration is valid for all Wednesdays in July (5\, 12\, 19\, and 26) at 10:30 am.
\nPlease arrive at the Children's Room approximately 5 minutes before your session begins. Arrival more than 10 minutes after your sessi on's start time will result in forfeiture of that day's session\; there ar e no make-up sessions available.
\nIt is expected that the child's p arent/guardian will remain in the Library during their child's Reading &am p\; Math Buddy session. Parents may NOT solicit Teen Buddies for tutoring or babysitting services.
