March is Women's History Month. \;
\nLearn more about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and more about
Sacajawea at our Manville Library on March 30th\, 2024. \;
Sacajawea was a \;Lemhi Shoshon e \;woman who\, in her teens\, helped the \;Lewis and Clark Expedi tion \;in achieving their chartered mission objectives by exploring th e \;Louisiana Territory. Sacajawea traveled with the expedition thousa nds of miles from \;North Dakota \;to the \;Pacific Ocean\, he lping to establish cultural contacts with \;Native American \;peop le and contributing to the expedition's knowledge of \;natural history \;in different regions.
\nThe \;National American Woman Suf frage Association \;of the early 20th century adopted Sacajawea as a s ymbol of women's worth and independence\, erecting several statues and pla ques in her memory\, and doing much to recount her accomplishments.
\n< p>Presented by: The Sacajawea Interpretive\, Cultural\, and Educational Ce nter.\nThe Sacajawea Interpretive\, Cultural\, and Educational Cent er is a 71-acre park located in the Salmon Valley of Idaho. The mission of the Sacajawea Center is to foster the knowledge and appreciation of the A gaidika Shoshone-Bannock Tribes\, the Lewis and Clark Expedition\, Western frontier life\, and the natural environment. \;The Sacajawea Center i s a city entity and owned and operated by the City of Salmon\, Idaho. \; \;It serves as a gathering spot and educational center for Salmon.< /p>\n
