This will be a generative poetry workshop where we will focus on the ancient practice of ekphrasis. Ekphrasis comes from the ancient Greeks and is a form of art which responds\, or speaks ba ck\, to another work of art. From Homer to Sylvia Plath\, poets have writt en in response to visual art. In this workshop\, we will write poems and v iew visual art\, discussing how the two mediums speak to one another
\nAmelie Langland is a queer\, trans poet who grew up in Alabama. She rec eived her MFA in poetry from the University of Arkansas where she was awar ded the Carolyn F. Walton Cole Fellowship. She currently serves as an asso ciate editor in poetry at Iron Horse Literary Review. Her poetry has appea red\, or is forthcoming\, in Best New Poets 2018\, RHINO\, the minnesota r eview\, NELLE\, Bayou Magazine\, Measure Review\, Susurrus\, Texas Review Press\, and Poetry South among others. When she is not gardening or teachi ng\, she is most likely watching PBS.
