Unlike nuclear DNA\, which is inhe rited from both parents\, mtDNA is solely passed down maternally\, making it an essential tool for tracing maternal ancestry. \;This presentatio n will provide an overview of mtDNA and testing strategies you can utilize to help resolve genealogical mysteries. \;

start with learning a few definitions\, inheritance patterns\, haplogroup
s\, and discuss a few the advantages and limitations of using Mitochondria
l DNA. Then we&rsquo\;ll see some actual mtDNA test results and matches\,
and discuss testing strategies. Lastly\, we&rsquo\;ll look at the two meth
ods of calculating results\, and finish up with a few ideas for further re
