TRIchrO performs regularly throughout the Greater Boston area\, NYC and Japan and their latest CD is titled "Gravity .&rdquo\; Although the core of the band is a jazz trio (David Mercure\, ba ss\; Mark Fairweather\, drums\; Eriko Yamako\, piano)\, they often invite other instrumentalists including jazz and classical players to join them f or live performances and recordings. For this performance they will be joi ned by oboist Joel Bard. All pieces performed in this concert were compose d by Eriko.
\nJoel Bard\, \;oboe and English ho rn\, \;received a B.M. in oboe from the Cleveland Institute of Music\, where he studied with John Mack\, and an M.M. in conducting from the Juil liard School\, where he studied with Jorge Mester\, Sixten Ehrling\, and R oger Nierenberg and worked in master classes with Leonard Bernstein and He rbert Blomstedt. He was Director of the Repertory Orchestra at the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras from 1989 to 2011. He also has a Ph.D. in bioche mistry from Harvard University and is a Research Fellow at Pfizer where he \;is currently focused on biotherapeutic informatics.
\nMark Fairweather\, \;drums\, \;began his musical pursuit s at an early age\, studying drums with his father\, Harold Fairweather an d piano with his mother\, Margaret Laughlin Fairweather. He has a B.M. in Percussion Performance from Berklee College of Music where he was a studen t of Steve Wilkes\, John Ramsey\, Joe Hunt\, and Dean Anderson\, and was a member of John LaPorta&rsquo\;s small Jazz ensemble. Mark continued his d rum set studies\, after graduating\, privately with Gary Chaffee. In addit ion to playing with TRIchrO\, Mark has been featured with the Tom Nutile B ig Band\, the Boston productions of &ldquo\;Menopause\, the Musical&rdquo\ ; and &ldquo\;Respect&rdquo\;\, plays timpani with the Franklin Performing Arts production of &ldquo\;The Nutcracker&rdquo\;\, and can be heard with the Vista Orchestra at Groton Hill. Mark is the Percussion Instructor at Middlesex School\, and teaches privately.
\nDavid Mercure\, bass\, was a long-time resident of Andover and currently resides in North Andover. He is a graduate of Boston&rsquo\;s Berklee College of M usic where he earned a degree in composition. David performs regularly wit h TRIchrO as well as the Tom Nutile Big Band and numerous artists througho ut the Boston area. He is also an active pit bassist with a number of thea tre groups throughout Greater Boston and provides private bass instruction . David studied bass with Cecil McBee\, Bruce Gertz\, Ed Friedland and Joh n Neves and contemporary composition with Jeronimas KaÄinskas and John Bavicchi.
\nEriko Yamaki\, composition\, jazz piano \, started playing piano at age 4 and flute when she was 11. She holds a d egree from Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo\, She then attended Berklee College of Music where she received a degree in Jazz Composition\, and Er iko also studied jazz piano. After graduating Berklee\, she played in the Boston area with the Sonny Watson Quintet and the East West Quartet. In 20 16\, after a somewhat extended hiatus\, Eriko resumed writing and performi ng with the jazz trio &ldquo\;TRIchrO&rdquo\; and their first CD &rdquo\; Gravity&rdquo\; was released in 2018. Eriko has also been composing classi cal pieces and her pieces have achieved recognition in various composition competitions\, and a few albums were released from Naxos Records. On Sept ember 5\, 2023\, \; The National Philharmonic of Moldova will premiere her first string orchestra piece\, &ldquo\;Prosperity&rdquo\;. Eriko is a member of the Phasma-Music Composers&rsquo\; Club in Poland.
