 ed growing houseplants and herbs on the windowsill of her 36th floor apart
 ment. In 1998\, she moved to the United States and got her own house. In h
 er new garden\, Meipo&rsquo\;s love for plants came into full bloom. She b
 ecame a Montgomery County Master Gardener in 2015. Meipo believes gardenin
 g should be accessible to all\, and it does not have to be expensive or ha
 rd. To share her knowledge\, Meipo gives a variety of presentations on gar
 dening methods for the Master Gardener organization. When she is not garde
 ning\, Meipo is a wife\, an Aikido instructor\, a woodcarver\, a blogger a

 UME Master Gardeners</strong></em> are volunteers who combine their love o
 f plants\, people\, and the environment to help residents in their communi
 ties solve problems and make environmentally-sound decisions.&nbsp\;They s
 upport the University of Maryland Extension (UME) mission by educating res
 idents about safe\, effective and sustainable horticultural practices that
  build healthy gardens\, landscapes\, and communities. The UME Master Gard
 ener Program began in 1978 as a means to extend science-based knowledge to
  the general public by providing horticultural and pest management experti
 se to help protect and improve Maryland&rsquo\;s natural resources. Today\
 , this popular program can be found in 20 Maryland counties and Baltimore
