 Bear:</strong></p>\n<p>In an Edenic future\, a girl and her father live cl
 ose to the land in the shadow of a lone mountain. They possess a few remna
 nts of civilization: some books\, a pane of glass\, a set of flint and ste
 el\, a comb. The father teaches the girl how to fish and hunt\, the secret
 s of the seasons and the stars. He is preparing her for an adulthood in ha
 rmony with nature\, for they are the last of humankind. But when the girl 
 finds herself alone in an unknown landscape\, it is a bear that will lead 
 her back home through a vast wilderness that offers the greatest lessons o
 f all\, if she can only learn to listen.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>About An
 drew Krivak:</strong></p>\n<p>Andrew Krivak is the author of three novels\
 , two chapbooks of poetry\, and two works of nonfiction. His 2011 debut no
 vel\, The Sojourn\, was a National Book Award finalist. He followed The So
 journ\, in what would become the Dardan Trilogy\, with The Signal Flame\, 
 a novel The New York Times said evoked &ldquo\;an austere landscape\, a st
 ruggling family\, and a deep source of pain.&rdquo\; His novel The Bear re
 ceived the Banff Mountain Book Prize for fiction\, and is a National Endow
 ment for the Arts Big Read title.</p>\n<p>Like the Appearance of Horses\, 
 the third novel in the Dardan Trilogy\, was published in 2023.</p>\n<hr />
