In 2022 Mark Naymik launched Signal Cleveland\, a nonp rofit newsroom\, which combines community building with local reporting. H e is the founding managing editor. Mark has over 20 years experience worki ng for various print\, digital\, and broadcast media. He has worked for no nprofit publications in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania and Cleveland. He spen t 19 years with the Cleveland Plain Dealer and cleveland.com. Mark also wo rked for WKYC. Part of Signal Cleveland's goal is to provide news and basi c information to Clevelanders. As part of their mission they pay attention to readers who may not be internet savvy and use libraries and other comm unity centers to meet people where they are. Mark will attempt to answer t he question if there is room for a nonprofit newsroom in the constantly sh ifting media and internet landscape. He will also talk about how Signal Cl eveland got its start and the role it plays as part of a growing network o f nonprofit newsrooms around the country.
