Join artist Christine Abbott for a wonderf ul Drypoint Prints workshop that will introduce intaglio printmaking. Dryp oint prints resemble etchings but do not require metal or acid to create. Instead\, an image is scratched into a plastic plate producing a &ldquo\;b urr\,&rdquo\;: a raised portion of plastic that catches and holds ink whil e the smooth portions of the plastic may be wiped clean. With the help of a printing press\, this ink is transferred to a dampened sheet of paper. W e will be using clear plastic sheets\, ideal for easy tracing\, and print with soy-based inks. Participants will leave with multiple impressions of their own original handmade prints.
\nChristine Abbott studied print making at the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow\, Scotland while completing her BFA at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus\, Ohio. She received her MFA from Washington University in St. Louis. \; She has exhibited nationally for over ten years and has taught elementary age to c ollege students with a wide variety of backgrounds.
