Open Communities' Fair Housing 101 present ation covers the principle fair housing rights and responsibilities that b oth renters and housing providers need to know. This introduction covers t he broad protections in the federal Fair Housing Act\, gives an overview o f local protections in Illinois as well as in Cook County\, and helps comm unity members understand how to recognize violations and take action. Addi tional topics include reasonable accommodations for tenants\, sources of i ncome protections\, and rights of those with prior justice involvement whe n applying for housing.
