From distinguished Abenaki filmmaker Alani s Obomsawin\, "Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance" captures the story of Kanien&rsquo\;ké\;haka (Mohawk) activists fighting against the loca l government&rsquo\;s proposed development of a private golf course on sac red burial grounds. Their struggle to protect their land became a historic confrontation &mdash\; and one of the most widely publicized instances of government-sanctioned violence against First Nations peoples in the 20th century. This screening is in conjunction with the 2023 One Read program featuring the book "When Two Feathers Fell From they Sky\," a novel with Indigenous characters and themes. (Dir.
