Learn about our pre-employment su pports and how you can access these free services. In addition\, you will learn about the wide variety of programs and supports Idea Exchange offers and how they inspire our community through reading\, arts\, innovation\, and learning.
\nSeptember 26: Resume Development
\nIn the Resume Development workshop\, participants will explore vario us resume styles including the structure and content of both chronological and functional resumes\, while determining what style is appropriate. Par ticipants will also learn resume &ldquo\;Do&rsquo\;s and Don&rsquo\;ts&rdq uo\; as well as what should be included in a cover letter in this interact ive workshop.
\nOctober 3: Interview Skills
\nThe Interview Skills workshop offers an overview of the various elements of the entire interview process. Looking at all stages of the interview pr ocess\, participants will learn the &ldquo\;Do&rsquo\;s and Don&rsquo\;ts& rdquo\; of the interview process. After attending this interactive worksho p\, individuals will be more confident entering an interview\, know how to make a good first impression\, and have the building blocks to answer int erview questions appropriately.
\nOctober 10: Job Searching\ , Networking\, and Social Media
\nIn the interactive Job Se arching and Networking workshop\, participants will explore and gain knowl edge about how to access the hidden vs. open job markets. Participants wil l explore five topics\, some of which include exploring traditional vs. no n-traditional job searching and the application process.
\nO ct 17: Employer Expectations
\nIn the Employer Expectations workshop\, participants will explore various &ldquo\;Do&rsquo\;s and Don& rsquo\;ts&rdquo\; on how to keep a job and what employers look for and exp ect of their employees. From general attitude to learning about styles of manager feedback\, clients will learn tips and tricks to help them meet ex pectations and keep their job.
\nOctober 24: Getting to know your Paycheck
\nThe interactive Getting To Know Your Paych eck workshop offers an introduction to the tax deductions that you expect to have taken off of your employment income. Looking at the breakdown of a pay stub may be confusing and stressful\, especially when starting a new job. After attending this workshop\, we hope that individuals have a great er understanding of what tax deductions will be taken off of employment in come\, why these deductions exist\, and roughly how they are calculated.\n
October 31: Workplace Wellness
\nBe informed on how to manage workplace stress and anxiety. Not only is it important t o recognize the symptoms of workplace stress\, but the steps we can take t o address and learn what causes it. Learn about the tips and tricks for a healthy self-care routine and how we can work to reduce/remove the source of these stressors.
