DESCRIPTION:Join us for Riverside Chats\, where we spotlight the do-gooder
s\, newsmakers\, and rebels of our community. This month\, we're thrilled
to host Luke Baumgarten - the founder of RANGE Media! .\nhttps://spokaneli
 brary.libnet.info/event/9066624
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Luke is a key figure in Spokane's communit
y and has been actively involved in various community-building initiatives
 \, including the Spokane Workers Co-op.</p>\n<p><a href="https://rangemedi
 a.co/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RANGE Media</a>\, initiated as a per
sonal project by Luke in April 2020\, has grown into a dedicated media org
anization with a focus on the Inland Northwest. Its mission is to provide
a platform that highlights the perspectives of marginalized communities\,
ensuring that news and information are accessible to everyone.</p>\n<p>One
of the unique aspects of RANGE is its ownership structure. It's owned by
 the <a href="https://www.spokane.coop/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Spo
kane Workers Cooperative</a>\, which means that all its employees have a s
take in the organization. This model promotes independence and aligns with
  RANGE's commitment to community engagement.</p>\n<p>In our chat\, we'll e
xplore the journey of RANGE Media\, its goals\, and its impact on the comm
unity. We'll also discuss the challenges and opportunities of running a me
dia organization in today's dynamic landscape.</p>\n<p>We hope to see you
there for an insightful conversation about local media and its role in sha
ping our community.</p>\n<p>By attending library programs\, you are agreei
ng to potentially appear in photos/videos taken at our locations that may
be used in promotional materials including social media.</p>\n<p>We strive
to make events welcoming for people of all abilities. To request accommod
ations (i.e. hearing assistance\, ASL requests\, or other ADA inquiries)\,
  call the library at 509-444-5340.</p>\nhttps://spokanelibrary.libnet.info
