 /strong></p>\n<p>Phillip Nicholas is a professional genealogist specializi
 ng in Jamaican\, Barbadian\, and British genealogy and owns Genealogy Dete
 ctive Caribbean\, LLC. He has presented for the Frederick County Public Li
 brary (FCPL)\, the Allen County Public Library (ACPL)\, the Yonkers Public
  Library (YPL)\, Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL)\, the Clayton Library C
 enter\, and RELIC at the Central Library where he discussed how to trace y
 our Caribbean ancestry and the complexity of slavery. Phillip Nicholas has
  a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of
  Maryland\, College Park and earned his Master of Arts in Comparative &amp
 \; Transnational History from the College of William &amp\; Mary. He has e
 xperience processing\, researching\, and analyzing archival records. He wr
 ote his thesis about the cultural transformations of enslaved people from 
 the Gold Coast in 18th-century Jamaica. With his background in history\, h
 e knows the value of understanding the historical context of an event and 
 location when conducting genealogy.</p>\n<p><strong>About the Division of

  Library System&rsquo\;s Division of Special Collections &amp\; Archives h
 olds rare and irreplaceable historical materials for the benefit of the pu
 blic and scholarly community. They oversee the Helen Muir Florida Collecti
 on\, 16mm Film Collection\, Cuban Collection of Rare Books &amp\; Ephemera
 \, Genealogy Collection\, Vasari Project archive\, and Rare &amp\; Antiqua
 rian books from as early as the 17th&nbsp\;century. The Division aims to p
 rovide the public with the contents of these collections at their request\
 , which include books\, original manuscripts\, over 18\,000 photographs\, 
 prints\, artifacts\, audiovisual resources\, and electronic media.&nbsp\;<
