Join us on Zoom for a virtual session of I n the Land of the Postscript by Chava Rosenfarb. \; \;Matt Johnson \, Senior Lecturer\, Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures\, an d Director of Yiddish and Ashkenazic Studies at The Ohio State University\ , will co-facilitate the book discussion to provide cultural and historica l contexts for these stories translated from Yiddish.
\nRegistration is required to receive the Zoom link. Participants in Central Ohio who ar e registered for the reading group will receive a copy of In the Land of t he Postscript to read and return to the library after the book discussion. In the Land of the Postscript is also accessible on \;Hoopla \;&n bsp\;for participants outside of Central Ohio.
\nBexley Public Libra ry has been selected as a participating library for the Yiddish Book Cente r's "Stories of Exile" Reading Groups for Public Libraries for 2023. We co ntinued this year-long series with an in person discussion on October 16th of In the Land of the Postscript\, \;but we're offering a virtual ses sion as well due to patron feedback. \; \; \;
\nAbout th e reading group:
\nThe Yiddish Book Center&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Stories of Exile&rdquo\; Reading Groups for Public Libraries is a reading and disc ussion program to engage teens and adults in thinking about experiences of displacement\, migration\, and diaspora. In this program\, librarians org anize reading groups to discuss three books of Yiddish literature in trans lation\, and one book related to the experience of a community served by t heir library. The Yiddish Book Center&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Stories of Exile&rd quo\; Reading Groups for Public Libraries is made possible by a gift from Sharon Karmazin.
