 African American Research Library acknowledges its 21st year and will upli
 ft Black women in anthropology. This celebratory program series will be de
 dicated to Ft. Lauderdale's very own\, the late Dr. Niara Sudarkasa. The p
 ublic program will consist of conversations centered around Dr. Sudarkasa'
 s anthropology work and influences in her respective field.&nbsp\; Discuss
 ants will include but not be limited to anthropologists that worked direct
 ly or were influenced by Dr. Sudarkasa\, her mentors\, Michael Sudarkasa\,
  her son\, and Maya Sudarkasa\, the granddaughter of the renowned anthropo
 logist.</p>\n<p>The AARLCC and Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab (WPHL) of 
 Florida International University (FIU) will present its collaborative Comm
 unity Data Curation Project public program: part 3. Intergenerational part
 icipants (anthropologists\, oral history professionals\, interns\, and cul
 tural gatekeepers will hold interdisciplinary discussions. An exhibit feat
 uring highlights of the Niara Sudarkasa collection curated by WPHL FIU stu
 dent interns\, archives\, special collections\, and adult reference will b
 e on display for the month of October and highlighted during the program.&

 ><strong>About the African American Research Library and Cultural Center&n
 bsp\;</strong><br /><a href="https://www.broward.org/Library/Pages/BranchD
 etails.aspx?branchInfo=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The&nbsp\;Broward
  County African American Research Library and Cultural Center&nbsp\;(AARLC
 C)</a>&nbsp\;is located in the Sistrunk community\, one of the oldest hist
 orically Black communities named for one of Fort Lauderdale&rsquo\;s first
  Black physicians. Opening to the public on October 26\, 2002\, AARLCC bec
 ame the third public library of its kind in the United States dedicated to
  the study of Black history and culture. The 60\,000 square-foot Center se
 rves as a repository of materials related to the local\, national\, and in
 ternational voices of the African diaspora with more than 85\,000 books\, 
 manuscripts\, artifacts\, framed art\, print\, photography\, audiovisual\,
  and documents held in our Adult Services Section and Special Collections.
  The Youth Services Section features a special collection of Coretta Scott
  King Award books and the&nbsp\;Ashley Bryan Art Collection&nbsp\;from ill
 ustrators of African Descent. AARLCC also features a 5\,000 sq. ft. museum
 \, a 300-seat state-of-the-art theatre\, and a Computer Training Center.</
