In this program\, children are paired with a St. John Ambulance-trained\, child-certified therapy dog and the dog's handler. Children select reading materials that are interesting to them an d will read aloud to the therapy dog\, which supports building confidence in reading skills and inspiring a love of reading. This program is appropr iate for all children just learning to read\, but is especially suited to the reluctant reader\, or a reader who lacks confidence in their literacy skills.
