About the Presenter

Dr. Jorge Duany is the Director of the Cuban Research Institute and Pro fessor of Anthropology in the Department of Global &\; Sociocultural St udies at Florida International University. He earned his Ph.D. in Latin Am erican Studies\, specializing in anthropology\, at the University of Calif ornia\, Berkeley. He also holds an M.A. in Social Sciences from the Univer sity of Chicago and a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University. \;< /p>\n

Dr. Duany has published extensively on migration\, ethnicity\, rac e\, nationalism\, and transnationalism in Cuba\, the Caribbean\, and the U nited States. He has also written about Cuban cultural identity on the isl and and in the diaspora\, especially as expressed in literature\, music\, art\, and religion. \;
