Join the library for a very special speaki ng event featuring ethnobotanist\, researcher and community activist Leigh Joseph. She will be discussing the role of plants in her own cultural rec onnection and how she shares her love of plants and the land with wider au diences through her film\, book and company. As we move into harvest seaso n\, this conversation with Leigh will speak to the significance of native plants and their role in Indigenous culture both past and future.
\nLeigh\, who&rsquo\;s traditional name is Styawat\, is from the Skwxw&uacut e\;7mesh (Squamish) First Nation and both a business owner and writer. She uses traditional Squamish harvest techniques to gather plants for her com pany\, SḵwaÌlwen Botanicals\, and recently published a book on esse ntial Indigenous plant knowledge called Held by the Land: A Guide to Indig enous Plants for Wellness.
