\nJust a Mino r Threat is a book of Glen E. Friedman&rsquo\;s most outstanding photograp hs of the Washington\, DC\, band Minor Threat\, one of the most influentia l hardcore punk bands in music history. While the book offers Friedman&rsq uo\;s best-known photographs of the band\, most of the pictures in this vo lume\, shot in 1982 and &rsquo\;83\, have never been seen before.The book has writing by Jello Biafra\, Alec MacKaye\, Guy Picciotto\, Zack de la Ro cha\, Jamie Shanahan\, and Ian F. Svenonius. Friedman&rsquo\;s own introdu ction explains how he initially met the band\, and the lifelong friendship s that grew from there.The first time Friedman made pictures of Minor Thre at was in Southern California early in the summer of 1982\, then later on their home turf of Washington\, DC. At the end of that same year\, he shot them at an &ldquo\;explosive and uncontrollable&rdquo\; performance at CB GB in New York City. In addition to these\, \;Just a Minor Threat \;also comprises very rare candid and posed photos of the band\, including many from the same roll as the now classic &ldquo\;Salad Days&rdquo\; ima ge on the front steps of their &ldquo\;Dischord House.&rdquo\;
\nGlen E. Friedman\, one of the most important photographers of his generation\, is known for his influential and iconic images of rebellious artists from classic skateboarding\, punk\ , and hip-hop cultures. As a true artist his process was much more incendi ary than it was documentary. Friedman\, first published at the age of four teen\, has photographed over one hundred record covers\, countless magazin e pages\, and almost a dozen books\, including \;What I See: The Black Flag Photographs\, \;Keep Your Eyes Open\, \;DogTown: The Legend of the Z-Boys\, \;The Idealist\, \;Recognize\, \;My Rules\, an d \;Together Forever: The Run-DMC and Beastie Boys Photographs. His wo rk is now included in a number of notable international collections\, incl uding the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution. \;
