To culminate DC Reads\, join the Library and the PEN/Faulkner Foundation for "Voices of DC\," a PE N/Faulkner Literary Conversation.

Voices of DC will bring together DC writers Karin Tanabe and Tania James\, along with moderator Lauren Fra ncis-Sharma for a conversation about the craft of historical fiction\, and the ways in which their work helps us make sense of the present day. The event will include a Q&\;A with the audience\, and the Library will pro vide ASL interpretation.

About the authors:

\n

TANIA JAMES is the author of the novels \;The Tusk That Did the D amage \;and \;Atlas of Unknowns \;and the short story collecti on \;Aerogrammes. Her fiction has appeared in \;Boston Review\, Gr anta\, Guernica\, One Story\, A Public Space\, \;and \;The Kenyon Review. She lives in Washington\, D.C.

KARIN TANABE is the author of over half a dozen novels\, including \;A Woman of Intelligence  \;and \;The Gilded Years. \;A former \;Politico \;reporter \, her writing has also appeared in \;The Washington Post\, Miami Hera ld\, Chicago Tribune\, \;and \;Newsday. She has appeared as a cele brity and politics expert on \;Entertainment Tonight\, \;CNN\, and  \;CBS Early Show. \;Karin is a graduate of Vassar College and liv es in Washington\, D.C.

Lauren Francis-Sharma is the author of Book of the Little Axe\, the 2020 American Library Association&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Libraries Transform Boo k Pick\,&rdquo\; and &lsquo\;Til the Well Runs Dry\, awarded the Honor Fic tion Prize by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. A grad uate of the University of Pennsylvania\, the University of Michigan Law Sc hool\, and the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College\, Lauren&r squo\;s more recent work can be found at Barrelhouse\, ElectricLit\, The L ily\, as well as the anthology\, Us Against Alzheimer&rsquo\;s. Lauren is a book reviewer for The San Francisco Chronicle\, a MacDowell Fellow\, and the Assistant Director of Bread Loaf Writers&rsquo\; Conference at Middle bury College.
