Join Dr. Ginette Lafreniè\;re and her team from the Social Innovation Research Group (SIRG) from the Lyle S. Ha llman Faculty of Social Work \;at Wilfrid Laurier University for a creative presentation on the findings of the experiences of menopause for women and female identified individuals.
\nOver 85 research partici pants from various social locations (i.e.\, newcomers\, members of the LGB TQ2+ community\, women living below the poverty line) have shared their pe rsonal narratives of menopause through an arts-based process entitled: &ld quo\;photo elicitation&rdquo\;. \; This artistic exhibit will precede the public lecture on the research findings of the project.
\nEntitl ed: &ldquo\;Is it Hot in Here?&rdquo\;\, the researchers will illustrate h ow women and female identified individuals have disrupted and reclaimed me nopausal narratives by challenging bio-medical discourses which often char acterize the issue of menopause.

\nDr. Ginette Lafreniè\;re is a professor and researcher at the Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work\, Wilfrid Laurier University. S he is the founding Director of the Social Innovation Research Group (SIRG) which is a multidisciplinary collective of students\, staff\, faculty\, a nd community partners dedicated to university-community collaboration and community-based research. \;Originally from Sudbury\, Ontario\, Dr. La freniere has made Kitchener-Waterloo her home since 2002. She is committed to research which is empowering and transformative through arts-based pra ctices.
