Who&rsquo\;s Behind Black Art is a docu
mentary series written and directed by multi award winner John Campbell\,
exploring the lives of five young Black Emerging Artists from Good Black A
rt. The series gives the audience a first look into the "REAL" on the high
s and lows\, their journey\, and the opportunity for you to appreciate WHO
is behind these incredible art creations. Conversations expand with a gro
up of special guest celebrity contributors and professionals from the Art
World\, all leading to a star-studded opening night exhibit of all five ar
tists&rsquo\; work at the World Trade Center.
John Campbell
Born in Paddington\, London\, England\, John&rsquo\;s caree
r first started in the music industry. With significant opportunities to w
ork with some of music&rsquo\;s most prolific artists in the industry\, in
cluding Whitney Houston\, Elton John\, George Michael\, Boy George\, Jon S
ecada\, Zucchero\, Nu Colors\, Brand New Heavies\, and Eurythmics\, and co
ntracts signed with Warner Bros. and A&\;M records. He went on and move
d his career into the financial industry\, with 17 years of experience\, w
orking in many global divisions\, including Citi Private Bank\, and then l
anding an opportunity as Chief of Staff for Citigroup&rsquo\;s Global Digi
tal Strategy.
Utilizing management and creative skills\, John left the financial industry and went on to become the founder of \;JCINTIM E\, LLC\, \;a creative management &\; production company with signi ficant productions\, including directing and writing the new 2023 docu-ser ies \;Who&rsquo\;s Behind Black Art \;- a groundbreaking story of five emerging Black Artists from \;GOOD BLACK ART \;with many of t he artworld&rsquo\;s celebrity guests\, also\, John directed and wrote the new documentary feature COLOR\, traveling to many countries around the wo rld with renowned multi-disciplinary artist Alteronce Gumby\, exploring th e concept of \;COLOR. Additional projects include the 2022 film &lsquo \;5150&rsquo\;\, where John Campbell is co-executive producer along with C ritic&rsquo\;s Choice and SAG Award-winning actor &\; executive produce r David Oyelowo\, directed by Denzel Whitaker\, and stars Jovan Adepo. Joh n is the lead producer on the \;FIPRESCI \;Award-winning 2022 feat ure film &lsquo\;The Sleeping Negro&rsquo\;. John is also a producer on aw ard-winning films and upcoming television dramas and documentary releases\ , including the recent feature film\, \;&lsquo\;A Boy\, A Girl\, A Dre am&rsquo\; on Amazon Prime Video\, and producer of the 6-time Film Festiva l Award-winning feature \;&lsquo\;Destined&rsquo\;. John Campbell is w riter and executive producer of the HBO Max and 5-time film festival award -winning documentary &lsquo\;The \;Infamous Future&rsquo\; highlightin g the prolific and inspiring Eagle Academy Black and Brown boys\, the Eagl e Academy Foundation\, and its educators\, including the Chancellor for th e Department of Education Mr. David C. Banks. also starring the Mayor of N ew York City\, Eric L Adams. John was the producer of the 2018 March on Wa shington Film Festival in Washington\, D.C.

\n\nTORRENTS is a DC-based\, i nterdisciplinary event series that gathers artists\, collectors\, professo rs\, and community stakeholders to participate in a week filed with engagi ng experiences. \;TORRENTS examines critical questions about the devel opment of Black futures across the African diaspora by featuring innovator s across industries. Through expert panels\, film screenings\, live music\ , artistic performances\, and demonstrations of advancements in technology \, we aim to create opportunities to build community and inspire collabora tion.
\nTORRENTS is not a conference. This expansive series deconstr ucts the &ldquo\;traditional&rdquo\; academic setting\, which can be inacc essible and uninviting to marginalized communities. Through inviting commu nity stakeholders\, TORRENTS creates an inclusive space intended to furthe r the conversation on Black future-building. TORRENTS promotes Washington\ , DC\, as a global destination for artistic and cultural innovation.
