  traveling exhibit to the Bettendorf Public Library with a special present
 ation from Ruth Suckow Memorial Association Members Michael and Hedy Huste
 dde.</p>\n<p>The literary&nbsp\;critic and magazine editor\, H.L. Mencken\
 , said that Iowan Ruth Suckow (1892-1960) "was unquestionably...the most r
 emarkable woman writing short stories in the Republic."&nbsp\; And he publ
 ished everything she ever sent him.&nbsp\; The daughter of a Congregationa
 l minister\, Suckow lived in many towns - large and small- thoughout Iowa 
 as she moved with her father from one church to another.&nbsp\; In her wor
 k\, 43 short stories\, 9 novels\, and many essays\, Suckow preserved and p
 robed Iowa life from the 1880s through World War II.&nbsp\; Michael and He
 dy will give a talk about their personal attraction to Suckow's legacy and
  provide an introduction to the traveling exhibit at the Bettendorf Public
  Library.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Michael Hustedde is a Professor Emeritus from St.
  Ambrose University. Hedy Hustedde retired as librarian from Bettendorf Pu
 blic Library after more than 30 years.</p>\n<p>The Ruth Suckow traveling e
 xhibit will be on display in the fireplace area from April 14th through Ma
 y 12th. The travelling exhibit was made by The Ruth Suckow Memorial Associ
 ation with support from Humanities Iowa.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>No registration is
