  and author.&nbsp\; His great passion is connecting children and their fam
 ilies to nature through reading and photography.&nbsp\; He has shared his 
 work in the Children &amp\; Nature movement in Northwest Ohio over the pas
 t ten years and has taken some of his photographs at the Toledo Zoo\, Natu
 re&rsquo\;s Nursery\, and BGSU. His background as a high school English te
 acher and college professor of language arts education makes him uniquely 
 qualified to create engaging picture books for students and address litera
 cy with their teachers and parents.&nbsp\; His book <a href="https://toled
 o.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S218C1987151">Curious Critters</a>\, which h
 as won five national book awards\, was included in the "Wild for Ohio" Ohi
