Spokane Public Library's Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields\, will converse with celebrated Northwest novel ists Sonora Jha about her recent publication. Auntie's Books will sell cop ies of the author's titles following the presentation.
\nAbo ut the Authors
\nSonora Jha is the author of the novels&nbs p\;Foreign \;(2013) and the memoir \;How \;To Rai se A Feminist Son (2021). \;Her latest novel \;The Laught er \;has earned \;rave \;reviews \;from \;The New York Times\, \;The New Yorker\, \;India Today\, and& nbsp\;The Seattle Times \;and received starred \;reviews \;from \;Kirkus \;Reviews\, \;Booklist\, \;Bookpage&nb sp\;and others. It is longlisted for the Aspen Words Literary Prize. Sonora was formerly a \;journalist covering crime\, politics\, and cul ture for the \;Times of India \;and for \;East Ma gazine\, Singapore. She moved to the United States to earn a Ph.D. in Political Communication. Dr. Jha's OpEds\, essays\, and public appearance s have featured in \;The \;New York Times\, on BBC\, and in several anthologies. She is a professor of journalism at Seatt le University and also teaches creative writing for Hugo House\, Hedgebroo k Writers&rsquo\; Retreat\, Creative Nonfiction\, and Seattle Public Libra ry. \;
