\n\nModeling \;the \;Reef \;is an interdisci plinary public education and art project designed by Beatriz Chachamovits to provide access to and awareness of ecological\, social\, and craft know ledge to students from all ages. \;The \;project consists of two p hases with distinct learning and material outcomes. Participants will firs t discover Miami's underwater ecosystems through an interactive marine eco logy lesson followed by a coral sculpting workshop led by Beatriz on how t o craft their own ceramic coral sculptures. \;
\n\nBeatriz Chachamovits is an environmen tal artist and educator from Sã\;o Paulo\, Brazil living and working in Miami\, Florida. \;
\nHer work renders tangible the decline of the coral reef ecosystems\, and the role played \;by humans in it. Her intention is to share the majestic beauty of at-risk marine ecologies as \;well as the appalling rate of their destruction. She works with c eramic sculptures and drawings to highlight the unique shape\, form\, and texture that exists in the underwater world. She is the author and illustr ator of the book The little handbook of marine fishes and other aquatic ma rvels (Pequeno manual de peixe marinhos e outras maravilhas aquá \;ticas)\, published by Companhia das Letrinhas in Sã\;o Paulo\ , Brazil in 2018. \;

sari Project archive\, and Rare &\; Antiquarian books from as early as
