 over 4000 years! The general principles have not changed much but the tool
 s and surfaces available to carve have changed a lot! This workshop\, led 
 by The Hive&reg\; Artist-In-Residence\, <a href="https://www.thefortyeleph
 antsfactory.com/">Erica Schisler</a>\, is designed for beginners with an i
 ntroduction to the wide world of block printing.</p>\n<p>Participants will
  delve into the fundamentals of block printing using user-friendly rubber 
 carving linoleum blocks\, which they will carve and print. The session&rsq
 uo\;s highlight lies in the process: from conceptualizing and designing yo
 ur stamps to applying water-soluble block printing ink and printing design
 s onto paper. These soft and pliable rubber blocks are perfect for first-t
 ime carvers\, making the experience enjoyable and rewarding.</p>\n<p>All m
 aterials will be provided. Participants need only bring their imagination 
 and some design ideas. While printing inks are water-soluble\, please brin
 g an apron or dress in clothes that are okay to get messy.</p>\n<p>By atte
 nding library programs\, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/
 videos taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials in
