The West Virginia and Regional History Cen ter\, established in 1930\, is a premier archive library dedicated to pres erving the rich genealogical history of West Virginia and the central Appa lachian region. Initially tasked with safeguarding Senator Waitman T. Will ey's papers\, it has since expanded its collections to include documents f rom key political and industrial figures like Francis H. Pierpont\, Henry Gassaway Davis\, and Johnson Newlon Camden. Today\, the center boasts unpa ralleled collections of West Virginia books\, periodicals\, photographs\, maps\, broadsides\, and folk music\, making it a vital resource for explor ing the state's economic\, cultural\, and social history.
