 s Theatre in <em>Orphans for the Czar</em>. In December 2022 she appeared 
 in <em>Women Talking</em>\, a film directed by Sarah Polley that won the 2
 023 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Sarah Polley has encouraged
  Shayla to write and direct. Shayla\, who has been blind since birth\, is 
 an advocate for better representation of the visually impaired in a more i
 nclusive Hollywood.</p>\n<p>In <em>Women Talking</em>\, the women of an is
 olated religious community grapple with reconciling a brutal reality with 
 their faith. When the women discover who has been drugging and attacking t
 hem at night\, they're given an ultimatum. Forgive them or leave.</p>\n<p>
