X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Three original pieces &mdash\; each 12 min
utes or less\, followed by a short Q&amp\;A. This program is modeled after
12 Minutes Max\, a performance laboratory originated by On the Boards in
 Seattle.</p>\n<p><br /><strong>Jon Philpott aka Fezmaster</strong>&nbsp\;w
ill be presenting two pieces of music based on his current track of experi
ments using simple computer programs modeled around cells to generate and
manipulate ambient music that is inspired by natural processes played from
his DIY synthesizer\, The two pieces of music follow a theme of "breath"
with pieces of code that attempt to mimic natural breathing patterns which
is combined with improvisations on the bamboo flute and trombone\, both i
nstruments that depend on the player's breath.</p>\n<p><br /><strong>Elle
Malan Taylor</strong> will be performing a dance solo entitled\, <em>"get
back on that pony n ride."</em> This work is a portrait of the transformat
ional 6 months they spent as a farm hand in their home town of Midway\, Ut
ah. It is an exploration of the working\, laboring body\, Earth&rsquo\;s c
oncentric life cycles\, and the meaning of Home.</p>\n<p>Elle received a M
odern Dance BFA and Sustainable Food Systems BS at the University of Utah.
They are eager to connect to people and the Earth through food\, play\, m
ovement\, and art. They will be moving to Nepal in January to join the agr
icultural sector of the Peace Corps.</p>\n<p><br /><strong>Michele Medina-
Ferrone</strong> is a multi-disciplinary violinist from Utah. In 2022\, sh
 e asked <strong>Ellinor Peteresen</strong>\, a Utah composer originally fr
om Sweden\, if she could write her an unaccompanied violin solo. Medina-Fe
rrone wanted the piece to be about motherhood because after having her son
\, Kian\, it was suddenly a challenge to organize music performances like
she had in the past. Petersen sought inspiration from photos\, poetry\, an
d Swedish folk dances. Listen for the Swedish Hambopolska and Schottis &ld
 quo\;<em>Metamorphosis in March</em>.&rdquo\;</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><br />12 Mi
nutes Max is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and colleague Paul
Reynolds: artist\, librarian\, and patron of the arts. 12 Minutes Max is
a curated monthly performance series featuring experimental short works by
local artists in many different disciplines\, including dance\, music\, f
ilm\, and more. Each piece is followed by a Q&amp\;A with the artist. 12MM
is modeled after the program originated by On the Boards in Seattle.</p>\
