Ruth Reichl is the author of the cookbook\ , My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes That Saved My Life and served as E ditor in Chief of \;Gourmet Magazine \;from 1999-2009. In the years prior\, she was the restaurant critic at both \;The New York Times and the \;Los Angeles Times\, where she was also named food editor. As co-owner of The Swallow Restaurant in the '70s\ , she played a part in the culinary revolution that took place in Berkeley \, California. In the years that followed\, she served as restaurant criti c for \;New West \;and \;California \;ma gazines. \;
\nMs. Reichl's books will be available for purchase at the event\, courtesy of the Open Door Bookstore\, and she will be signi ng books. \;
